      Somos Emprendedores´ programs are focused on Colombian micro-entrepreneurs.  The needs in Colombia are varied and endless, ranging from basic access to food, water and shelter in La Guajira to the north, to expanding access to venture capital for Medellin´s vibrant technology sector.  Somos Emprendedores focuses on Antioquia´s micro-entrepreneurs because they are honest, hardworking folks that are willing to make sacrifices and put in the effort to build their businesses, get ahead in life, and better the lives of their families and communities - but they will never make it without a helping hand-up.

It's not a hand-out, Somos does not give or lend money.

      The objective is to make durable, long-lasting changes in the lives of good people who are willing to work for it and earn a better life for themselves, so that after completing the program when they and their families wake up in the morning their lives are better than they were before.

      The Colombian micro-entrepreneurs who win a spot in the program are vetted as the top 5% who have the determination and are willing to put in the hard work and make personal sacrifices in order to get ahead in life.  The participants are required to commit to an intensive 10-month training program consisting of group classes and training sessions, individual on-site consulting at their place of business or farm, preparing an individual business or improvement plan and action items, and executing on them.  In exchange Somos Emprendedores provides the participants with training, support and a full set of the entrepreneurial tools and resources they need to succeed.
